Anotace studijního programu
The FINE ART post-Bachelor (Master’s) programme of study targeted on preparation of author personalities capable of influencing the broad field of contemporary visual art via their creation, with a specific focus on the fields of photography and intermedia creation, but also with possible overlaps in other disciplines. (Individual FAD studios can contribute to development of specific areas of this wide spectrum of activities depending on their profiles and creative orientation of their heads, in the form of hosting a student at the given site.)
The course focuses mainly on developing personalities of students and their ability to use their work to express their creative and civic attitudes to relevant topics, and thus, among others, to help development of visual culture or visual literacy of contemporary society. Student comes through a systematic vocational training preparing them for a professional career of a freelance artist, but also through an inspiring milieu of a community consisting of students who come from various cultural (and language) environments. The superstandard level of the content of study is supported by the previous foreign activities of the team of knowledgeable pedagogues (positions of a visiting tutors, regular lecture activities abroad, organizing workshops, attending creative stays, and prestigious exhibition activities), as well as by involvement of native speakers.
At the same time, a student of this programme will get acquainted with principles of polemical-critical thinking, and develop ability of perception, analysis, and reflection of an artwork as a reference frame of their own creation. The concept of study will also allow them to get a basic knowledge of Czech cultural milieu as well as a broader frame of contemporary Central European visual culture, and to participate in local cultural activities.
A graduate from the FINE ART programme of study is professionally equipped with systematic, structured knowledge and skills enabling them to start a career of a freelance artist, a senior creative agent of advertising and marketing agencies, graphic studios, publishing houses, creative industries, or to take a position of an art mediator or a lecturer in creative workshops.

Profil absolventa
A graduate from FINE ART post-Bachelor (Master’s) programme of study will be ready to become an independently creating artistic personality who in their work reflects current artistic trends, as well as the patterns of development of the national scene in their country of origin, enriched by the experience gained in Czech environment. As well, they will be capable of an open intercultural dialogue and will be prepared to react to serious social issues by means of their work. Further to their previous education, the graduate will develop the skills acquired while studying at the bachelor’s degree (admission to the Master’s programme of study requires a certificate of recognition of their foreign diploma in the Czech Republic – so-called nostrification – or nostrification with an apostille), both in digital technologies and in intermedia overlaps, as well as in the field of classical media or e.g. graphic design for a wide range of multigenre creation, so that they are able to anticipate the constantly developing technologies of creation and innovative ways of final presentations. Particular attention will be paid to overlaps towards photography and intermedia creation (photographic installation, time-based media and digital art) as well as to development of technical skills related to these disciplines.
The conception of the study emphasizes the student’s readiness for programmed (conceptual) artistic activity relying not only on professional skills and knowledge of the whole wide range of artistic means and tools of related disciplines, but also on the essential need to base their work on previous theoretical study and critical analysis.
A graduate from FINE ART post-Bachelor (Master’s) programme will have skills and knowledge for a career of a freelance artist, a photographer, a specialist in creative disciplines (such as media, TV, film, advertising, creative industry, startups or nonprofit organizations) a specialist in both government and private institutions, an expert who will be able to create visual and/or intermedia communication on the level of common comprehensibility, and thus participate in developing current artistic trends and visual culture of today’s society. A graduate from FINE ART programme, being equipped with the solid principles of polemical-critical thinking, will be also prepared for a career of an educator in different systems and levels of professional art education, or a lecturer in the gallery or museum contexts, or in nonprofit organizations. Thanks to the superstandard practical training and strong theoretical anchorage, a graduate from the programme of study will be able to adapt their information and knowledge acquired during the study to authentic needs of cultural scenes they decide to act on. As well, a graduate will be prepared for further postgraduate studies in the same or similar programmes of study, among others, in the Visual Communication doctoral programme of study, conducted at FAD JEPU. So far, the study has been recognized without problems in all countries where graduates of the FAD JEPU foreign language programme are located.
