Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

of the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně (UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is focused on the technical education of our region. It offers practical programmes in the field of industrial production and its management. Currently, 6 bachelor’s degree programmes, 5 follow-up master’s degree programmes and 1 doctoral degree programme are available.

About Us

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is located in the heart of the industrial region of Ústí nad Labem. We are well aware of this and are trying to connect the academic and industrial spheres.

The study programmes we offer reflect the current demand for industry professionals and, as a result, we can be proud of our 100% graduate employment rate. We place great emphasis on practice; students spend several weeks of their studies in real operation at our partners, where they can implement their final work. We also offer certification courses for our students as part of the new Quality Management Study Programme.

Currently, 6 bachelor's degree programmes, 5 follow-up master's degree programmes and 1 doctoral degree programme are available.

Study

Our study programmes are designed to fully prepare graduates for their chosen field. Thanks to our strong links with industry, we know exactly what the requirements for professional positions are, and we constantly update our programmes accordingly. You can choose from a wide range of specialisations, from metallurgy and material sciences, to energy and electrical engineering, and  to robotics and automation. The study is structured into a three-year Bachelor's degree (Bc.), a two-year follow-up Master's degree (Ing.) and a four-year Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) programmes. The bachelor's degree can be followed by a master's programme with a different specialisation. The study programmes can be studied both in full-time and part-time form, in which the teaching is done on Fridays and Saturdays.

Science and Research

We have long been involved in the development of new aluminium alloys and their application in the manufacturing sector. We also hold European and national patents in this field. In 2022, we opened a new CEMMTECH building (Centre of Mechanics, Materials and Technologies). This teaching and research centre includes laboratories equipped with the latest technology, optical measurement methods, simulators in the field of energy industry and robotics, and a state-of-the-art metallurgy centre. The laboratories will thus satisfy the ever-increasing demands for teaching and industrial and scientific research.
